Many of us would much prefer our pets to “die peacefully in their sleep” rather than us have to make the decision to put them to sleep with the vet.

Of course, like humans, some animals do pass away in their sleep.  Unfortunately, some are left to suffer in our own hope that they will die ‘peacefully’ in their sleep one night so that we don’t have to go through the distressing decision and process of euthanasia.

It is important to remember that, because your pet isn’t screaming in pain, this does not mean they are not suffering.  Euthanasia is the most loving and kind thing we can do for our pets – we have the ability to stop their suffering by choosing timely euthanasia.

Please see my post “how do I know when it’s time to put my pet to sleep?” for more information on this topic.
